Manitos Migrations

Visualizing Place, People, Time & Story

Project Overview

The ‘Manitos Migrations’ is an essential component of the Manitos Community Memory Project, an initiative to recover and revitalize cultural heritage through the creation of community-based digital archives in the rural villages of northern New Mexico and the diaspora communities they are connected to beyond this region.

Data Collection

This part of the project will allow us to gather data and to begin to create a platform to visualize that data of migrations (people) using the framework of place, time and story. The data collection will consist of two components. The first will entail gathering existing data sets that may have been produced by scholars, government agencies or non profits. We will also engage public to begin to develop data sets toward that end.

Data Visualization

The outcome from the data gathering will allow us to amplify this content through data visualization.
